A small but perfectly formed team of Georgeham climbers represented the school this weekend at the South West Schools Climbing Competition at Rock and Rapid Adventures in South Molton.  What we lacked in numbers we made up in smiles, gumption and team spirit – with all the kids having a great time, making new friends and standing out for supporting other climbers as well as their school mates.
Esme, Kitty and Elsie climbed in the Year 5-6 category, the largest category of the whole event with some very strong Devon climbers taking part. They took 5th, 11th and 13th position respectively which was a fantastic achievement on some challenging problems that tested flexibility and height as much as climbing technique.  Arthur took on the boys year 5 and 6 and came 11th in a field of boys who climb regularly in clubs across Devon. Roxie Lou stormed her way up the climbs to finish 5th in the girls Year 3 and 4 group.
They all had to do three roped climbs on the high walls, with overhangs and some very small holds as well as a few nice big ones and then three boulder problems in the new bouldering area.
A brilliant team effort against some much larger and more experienced school teams!  Thank you to all the parents who transported and supported the team.
