Here’s our contribution of some Red, White and Blue celebrations for the Coronation weekend.

What a brilliant community event.  The children really rose to the challenge of some tough and tiring dances.  They were also determined to do the hardest Maypole dance, the plait, and managed to unwind it too.

It was lovely to hear from several residents and visitors that they’d done the same dances when they were at the school.

Thanks to Georgeham Parish Council for organising the event and putting many things on for the children and families!

That really was Mr Cruse on the accordion.   He and Pam Cruse took the lead with the Broom and Maypole dances back in the 70s when Mr. Al Cruse was Deputy Head at Georgeham, so I’m glad I managed to get a reording of him 15 years ago!  And although the Maypole is a bit like Rodney’s broom… we did use some of the original school brooms!

Thanks everyone!
