This morning was the second part of the Teachers Rock YOUTH Choir Project; the day we finally put everything together and recorded our CD.

150 children came together from many locations around the South West and sang five songs in total… Reef’s Place Your Hands, Coldplay’s Fix You, World in Union and a couple of Gospel numbers. Class 4’s Sam, Chloe and Amias represented Georgeham and did a great job!

I’m really proud of how patient and resilient the children were as they had to concentrate lots on each take and it was quite tiring! The final result actually brought tears to some of the choir members when we listened back during our lunch break!

We were lucky enough to have Rev. Bazil Meade MBE play on these tracks too. Bazil is the founder of the internationally renowned London Community Gospel Choir, he’s also our choir’s patron and is newly awarded an MBE for services to gospel music.

Teachers Rock comprised of another 60 or so adults this morning and we had our own Rev. Mike Newbon in charge of the recording, Debbie Kent our choir conductor, John Bangham on keys and Miss Butters stepping in for the occasional conducting too. Miss Summerville was also there with a group of children from Sticklepath School.

If you’re interested… We’ve also got a performance in St.George’s Church, on Saturday the 28th April at 7.30 (Door collection going to the church’s roof fund)
