Georgeham’s fearless X Country Runners took part in the second of the Gliddon and Squire C Country meets yesterday. They braved pouring rain and winds to run the fast and relatively flat, but very muddy, course at Shebbear College.
Once again hundreds of local school children turned out and this time Archie C, Fred Pc Jack G and Kitty J joined Martha C, Eflini D, Sam J and Chloe H to add to our team numbers. Everyone did brilliantly – there were some fast and brave performances from our determined runners and some big grins between the efforts. Even the parents thought it was great fun!
Thanks to the newcomers we’ve now got enough runners (3) to count for both the Boys U11 and the Girls U9 team cup. The boys finished 6th yesterday which puts them in 13th place overall (not bad considering we didn’t have enough for a team in the first race) and the girls moved up to 11th place (out of 21 teams).
We’d love to get some more runners for the next meet at Coxleigh Barton on Nov 4th – especially some year 5 or 6 girls to join Chloe and some year 4 or 5 boys to join Jack! If you’d like to get involved speak to Ali Smith or Ben Cox
