Lundy, day 2.

Two groups of 4 - Sea Glass Scavengers and Lundy Vibers. Various jobs, such as setting up for breakfasts or sandwich making, washing up or sweeping crumbs - although the Pigmy Shrew did some of that job last night.Letterboxing today took us all the way to the North Light via the quarries, Stone Age hut and seals at the northern [...]

Microhabitats, invertebrates and our new magnifying glasses

Class 2 learnt the difference between a habitat and a microhabitat today. We enjoyed using our new magnifying glasses to identify and respectfully study the invertebrate species that live within our field's microhabitats. Marbled butterfly, pine moth, garden spider, bloody-nosed beetle and even a dragonfly!

Lundy day 1 (if we get reception!)

What a perfect crossing, and trip so far! Playing on the beach, introduction to letterboxes, settling in to the Barn, making pizzas and listening to the Warden tell us about the wildlife. Here's some photos!

School Bike Ride info…

Here's some information about our Whole School Bike Ride on the 20th. We believe that riding a bike is an important life skill and this event is a fun way of promoting cycling to our children.  It used to be an annual event until we were rudely interupted by a panemic, but it should end up being a great day. We are a Community - proved by children running between the track's start and finish lines cheering al the runners on!    Just lovely, and great to see these big events back [...]

Class 1 and 2 trip to Rosemoor

We love our annual trip to RHS Garden Rosemoor. Today we found 'wooly worms' and saw first hand how tricky it is to see things that are camouflaged! We found a range of minibeasts; beetles, spiders, worms, woodlouse, newts and frogs! We also had a go at making our own minibeast models using clay and natural objects such as twigs, [...]

Putsborough Beach Day!

We had a fantastic day last week for our Putsborough beach trip. Picnic, icecream and sandcastles...what more could we want?!

Saunton Beach and Braunton Burrows Trip – Class 4

Class 4 had a fantastic time on Saunton Beach and Braunton Burrows on Friday. We heard all about the crazy skills of the cuttlefish, talked about energy transference, tried to create a human line as long as the longest octopus (we were still too small!), found shark eggs and learnt how plastic is passed down the food chain. We did [...]
