More fossil making…

2023-02-10T14:18:26+00:00

Class 3 made Sediment pebbles a few weeks ago... We made TRACE fossils last week, which is where something leaves a trace that something was there... like Amelie's necklace (dropped and picked up), or Jack's dinosaur footprint. Today, we made BODY fossils.  We almost layered our birthday-boy Barney between layers of salt-dough sediment, but we just didn't have enough salt dough [...]

Class 3 Rocks!

2023-01-27T16:09:49+00:00

Class 3 had some fun making real, sedimentary pebbles today! Igneous and metamorphic would be hugely difficult (and we've no resources at all to make those!) but we were successful with little sedimentary rocks.Sedimentary rocks are layers of... sediment. So we layered sand and soil and squashed them very, very tightly. It was quite exciting! The main photo I've used [...]

Welcome back!

2023-01-06T09:07:19+00:00

Apart from wet play interrupting our enjoyment outside, we all had a great day, learning lots. I thought I'd share a couple of photos - class 3 lying down and having a rest, and class 4 clearly having a lovely day tasting different breads. So, apart from those wet playtimes, what's not to love from school today? We are Confident.

Class 3 WW2 Workshop

2022-12-15T11:19:41+00:00

Class 3 enjoyed a great WW2 workshop to finish off our topic this term. We reviewed the main events of the war, rationing, evacuation and WW2 weapons as well as learning some games children played (because most materials were being used for the war effort so toys weren't really being produced) and handling some WW2 artefacts. We even had a [...]

2022-08-18T13:26:51+01:00

A brilliant day at Ilfracombe Pool for the North Devon Aquathlon. 20 children from our two junior classes... and they were fantastic! Plus, Bea won her year group! We are a Community - proved by children running between the track's start and finish lines cheering al the runners on!    Just lovely, and great to see these big events back [...]

Class 3 @ St George’s House

2022-08-18T13:26:52+01:00

Class 3 have had a fantastic time this week on our our annual residential to St George's House. Monday we narrowly missed the torrential downpour to enjoy perfect sunshine on our rock scrambling around Baggy Point. All the children showed how adventurous and ambitious they were with some really challenging climbing, and it was great to see them all encouraging [...]

The Great Class 3 Bake Off!

2022-04-06T21:54:19+01:00

Class 3 had a great day baking our Egyptian flat breads today. The children came up with some really imaginative flavour combinations - some were very hot and spicy - and our celebrity judge, Keri, said it was the best set of flatbreads she had seen in her 8 years as resident chef - praise indeed! It was a tense [...]
