Class 2 (KS1)
Welcome to our class! In Class 2 we teach children in Years 1 and Years 2 and follow what is known as Key Stage 1 of the National Curriculum. We continue to build on the phonics learned in Class 1. We also use many different reading schemes to develop our reading skills – focusing on comprehension and understanding of our books, whilst continuing to develop fluency and expression. You can learn more about the Key Stage 1 national curriculum on our National Curriculum page.
On this page you will find useful information about your time in Class 2 including our Topic of the Term, information about home learning and links to our Key Instant Recall Facts. If you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to contact Mrs Boreham, the Class 2 teacher.

This week, we have been learning about extreme weather. We have learnt that extreme weather can be really dangerous because it can brake things. This week we looked at thunder and lightening and floods, after we learnt about it we made a picture of a storm. I really enjoyed this (Freya-Grace).
In maths this week we have been learning about fractions. I know a half is 2 equal parts, a quarter is 4 equal parts and a third is 3 equal parts (Bluebell).
In class 2, we are thankful for all of the things that we are lucky enough to have like pencils and glue and chairs to help us with our learning (Rowan).
In Geography this week, we have been learning about the wind and sometimes that it is really strong. We made our own wind socks and then we took them outside and looked at how they moved. We also ran across the field with them - they were blowing wildly! (Fin)
In literacy this week, we begun planning out weather page to make a class book about sunshine! We will then write it neat, we need to plan it first to make sure that we have all of the information that we want and the pictures in the right place. I liked drawing little fact bubbles of information. (Cicely)
In class 2, we are thankful for the food that we eat and the water that we drink. We are also thankful for all of the outdoor space that we have. (Hubie)
In literacy we have been learning to write our own silly stories based on Mrs Armitage and the Big Wave. (Ben)
In Maths we have been learning about time, when the big hand (or the minute hand) points to the 3, it is quarter past. When the minute hand points to the 9, it is quarter to. (Zephyr)
In class 2, we are thankful for food, water and animals. (Annie & Lola)
This week, in literacy we have had fun writing our own silly stories. (Bodhi)
In Maths, we have been learning to subtract. We used number lines to help us, we also noticed and remembered that our answer is always smaller when we subtract. (Molly)
In class 2, we are thankful for the lovely year that we have had! (All of class 2!)
