This ½ term’s school value is…

We are Ambitious.

We have the highest expectations for all our children and teachers.
In return, we give everyone in our school as many opportunities as we can to fulfil their potential in the widest possible sense.
Forget what is behind us and reach straight for what is ahead.  Run straight towards the goal.”  Philippians 3.v.12

A lovely end to the week with the Ilfracombe Aquathlon taking place today.  No idea on the results yet, but if the Torrington Aquathlon results ae anything to go by (they were excellent) we’ll do well today. News will be blogged at some point.

SATs data for year 6 has come back to us.  Reading was 100% (National is 74%), Wr 93%, Maths: 86% (National is 71%) and Spelling / punctuation 93% (National is 72%) and these combined is 86%  (National is 59%)

Year 5 head off to Lundy on Tuesday.  Uh, suncream, hats and lots of water bottles  are going to be needed I think!  (9am at Ilfracombe harbour please.)

Please note the information we’ve sent out about the Bike Ride earlier in the week.  Bike helmets need to be worn by adults too please – think of the message it gives to children if we don’t wear one.  Please also use the next couple of weeks to go over your child’s bike and check that everything works as it should please.  Thanks!

As the holidays are fast approaching and our villages are filling up with more people, the local ambulance services are feeling the pressure and wait times for emergency care are getting longer.
There are a few apps that you can download on your phone that will help you in various emergency situations and these are FREE too!

Dates for the diary…

Lundy residential for year 5s … 12th to the 14th July.

Braunton Learning Cooperative Trust are proud to be performing ‘Coming Together to Sing’.  Our local schools – ours, with Caen, Kingsacre Marwood, Southmead and Braunton Academy too – will be showcasing their talent for one spectacular night of singing.  With Special Guests The Military Wives Choirs and Chloe Marie Aston The Piano Bike Girl
12th July for a 6pm start.
For tickets please contact the Landmark Theatre on 01271316523 … Or click this link.

Whole School bike ride.  Changed date of Wednesday 20th.  This is an opportunity for children to learn how to ride bikes and have a biking themed day at school, or challenge themselves to ride to Rock Park, Fremington or Bideford, and back, all heading from Tescos in Braunton.  We’ve not done this for a few years and we hope it’ll be a great event as it’s always been!
For this to work well, we’d like family members to take part and help if and where they can – we really appreciate this, thank you.  It is also, certainly, a ‘wear-a-helmet’ event too!

Our Summer Fair is the same week!  Friday 22nd July, straight after school.  FROGS are already working in the background for this – thanks everyone!

That leaves the final thing being the Leavers’ Assembly at 2pm on our last day; Tuesday 26th July.

Our front doors are open between 8.45 and 8.55 with children doing learning activities as soon as they arrive. Sadly, the ones who arrive late at 9.00 am would have missed this, and the ones who are later can even miss the introduction to the next learning task.
Please aim to arrive for 8.45am

Please do look at the school menu before you leave home in the morning. Keri is unable to adjust the menu each day and it’s important that the children know what’s on offer and are happy to make choices in the morning.

We are Ambitious.
