We are Kind

Do to others as you would have them do to you.”

Volunteer readers in school – we’d love to increase the amount of volunteers we have, to hear the children read a little bit more in school.  Please get in touch with Jo in the office if you’ve got a spare morning or afternoon during the week you could help us with.  We’d prefer a regular commitment simply so we can plan and organise the week with this in mind, and all volunteers are subject to a DBS.

Tilly Kennedy, Thea and their Mum have been running, cycling and walking 108 miles throughout September to raise money for the British Red Cross – even last night through that rain!   108 miles is the distance from Calais to London and the money raised will support the charity’s refugee work.  The girls may have raised a whopping £600, but please consider donating them for their final two-day marathon finish!   https://miles.redcross.org.uk/fundraising/Milesforrefugees21-HollyKennedy

We also heard that Edie Springett (and past pupil Kitty Johnson) took part in the Exmoor Swim of 1km open swimming in Wimbleball Lake last weekend!  Well done both of you, that’s a great achievement!

Trips next week

Class 1 & 2 will be travelling on the same coach. Please arrive promptly at school at 8.55am for registration, we will then walk to the village hall to get on the coach.
Class 1… to Combe Martin Dinosaur Park,
Class 2… to Watermouth Castle
Class 3… are on a walk down the Hoar Oak tributary and the River Lyn with the National Trust to give a good springboard to their topic on rivers.  I hope it’s a dry day for them, and that the weekend rain doesn’t make it too muddy!
Class 4 has a quiet day in school !

Please make sure you inform us of any changes you may have made – such as a new contact phone number, names of people who can pick up your child or your preference for photos to be used further than within class, for example.

We do have families here who ask that photos of their child are not used out-of-school, so on this point, please do not use your phone whilst on our school site.

Breakfast & Afterschool club is available each day from 8am to 5pm each day, this is available on an adhoc basis or as a regular commitment weekly. Please contact Jo in the office if you would like more information

Thank you for bringing in items for our Harvest Celebration and your cash donations too.  These have all be passed over to St George’s Church for their Harvest Service on Sunday, your donations will be shared equally between Braunton & Barnstaple foodbanks.

Attendance is still, and always, very important… but of course, not when they’re ill and certainly not when they’ve got a temperature, have a new continuous cough, or have a lack in taste or smell, which is when you need to keep your child off school and go for a PCR.

Guitar lessons?  Do get in touch and we’ll pass on Sarah Cox’s contact details.
