Our Eco Council met again this week and we’re continuing with our environmental review of the school. There are still things that we need to do and it’s lovely that we’ve got a child from each classroom helping to think about how we are here. We’re building up an action plan to collate all of this and we’ll share that with you when we can.
One of the outcomes from yesterday’s meeting was to share the Blue Peter Competition about helping the environment. It’s a lovely competition asking you to write up to 250 words in a poem or story that would make people want to protect ‘Our Planet Now.’ Aardman Studios will take the winning entry and make an animation out of it! Click through and have a look!
Parent Consultations are taking place over these couple of weeks – hopefully you’ve received your Zoom link and arranged an opportunity to discuss how things are with your child’s teacher.
I know it’s really important, but during a parents’ meeting about our upcoming Year 6 London meeting, I really saw how how essential it is for our parents to be on site and seeing the children play and learn in school. I have the privilege of walking around the school and seeing all the good stuff going on, and sharing lunchtimes with the children too and seeing how happy they all are. They are… and it’s lovely.
Sharing these experiences with our parents is something that I want to bring back to school life, but we still have to follow the DfE guidance. I’ve heard that we may have an update to the guidance over the next couple of weeks, possibly due to the May 17th road-map date, but schools are also hearing that there’ll be little change – restrictions with volunteers, no mass gatherings, the wearing of masks etc. We’re all hoping for some normality to return, and we’ll let you know what’s changing as soon as we know more. Thanks for being patient, understanding and playing your part too.
On Tuesday, Class 3 will be heading off to Rosemoor Gardens to have some real-life experience for their topic on Rainforests! Please be at the village hall at 8.50am so that the coach can leave on time. The letter that came out also mentioned that you need a packed lunch, a resealable drink, and clothes for the weather- a red school sweatshirt IS needed please, but shoes and bottoms are up to you. They should return for 3.15 and we’ll blog an update to this in the afternoon.
Another request to write your child’s name on their jumpers please. We really do have lots, in two lost property tubs now, and this summer term is when the amount of lost property only increases!
