We sent a letter out today about our current position regarding the Coronavirus epidemic / pandemic.

At present, we receive daily updates from the Department of Education (DfE) who are taking the lead from Public Health England (PHE).  The only pertinent information that has been shared with school so far is to encourage children to wash hands with soap and water for 20 seconds, and we have spoken to all classes about this and frequently remind them to do so.

There is a lot of speculation about school closures, but Boris Johnson’s announcement late this afternoon stated that UK schools are staying open.

We do feel however, that it is prudent to plan ahead and ensure we have remote and distance learning solutions in place, in case the Government decide to carry out any action that affects us.  From what we know at the moment though, our school is open until the Easter break, as planned.

We will keep you updated if anything changes.  If you have any worries or questions, then please try to catch me on the playground or via email. However, we don’t know any more than what we’ve shared already, and are taking direction from the DfE and PHE – you’ll probably hear updates on the news before it gets officially communicated to us.

I hope this helps to dispel any query or worry.
