So…what is a source of light?

2022-08-18T13:27:21+01:00

Today class 3 started their new science topic about light and we had some great discussions about what is a source of light. We had to decide whether things were a light source or not. Here are some of the ones we found tricky. The moon: Sam claimed “people say the moon shines brightly so it must be a light [...]

On the last day of the half term class 4 were set the challenge of re-designing the Nature Area by FROGS, to show what they would like to have in there when it is developed. When we went up to the Nature Area the children were surprised to see how much it had changed since they were last in there. Jess: "It just looks [...]

Bonjour! We were treated to a wonderful French Meal today in honour of our visiting French family. Kerry in the kitchen served up a gorgeous French menu and Ms Trute worked her magic to turn our hall into a wonderful venue. Augustin (11) on piano, Adele (9) on flute, Anatole (8) on accordion, Amory (7) on drums blew us all [...]

2022-08-18T13:27:21+01:00

Classes 1 and 2 have had a great day today, dressed up in castle-themed characters. There has been lots cutting, sticking, painting, counting, building and colouring. All the children also created a great moving dragon in the hall. The afternoon ended up a bit more relaxed, enjoying and sharing stories. Thank you to everyone who came in to help with [...]

Bikeability for year 5…

2015-10-20T15:59:02+01:00

The second group from class 4 spent the day cycling round school and the village learning skills and putting then into practice. Eric explained about road junctions and how to keep safe on the road and we were impressed with their attitudes and abilities. Interesting to learn that the 'old' rule of cycling just 30cm away from the curb is [...]

Funny comments about gases!

2022-08-18T13:27:21+01:00

Class 3 filled a balloon with matter. They thought it would be lighter so we put lots of children on the mat to think about which would be heavier; the mat with children or the mat without children. Interesting predictions! So... Established that filling a balloon with 'stuff' made it heavier (weighing them both to check too) we moved on [...]

Our day at Dunster Castle

2022-08-18T13:27:21+01:00

Class 2 had a fabulous day at Dunster Castle today. The weather was kind, the National Trust volunteer workers were excellent and the children were great! We have all learnt a lot about castles and their features, and what life was like hundreds of years ago. Probably the highlight of the day was the chance to do some 'jousting'! Thanks [...]

A Din’awesome Day at the Park

2022-08-18T13:27:23+01:00

Today was the big dinosaur day and the children certainly came in excited! I think I can speak on behalf of everybody (children and grown ups) that today has just been so much fun! We saw a fantastic sea lion show, lots of scary dinosaurs, many different animals at the animal show (some of which we could stroke, if we [...]
