2022-08-18T13:27:04+01:00

Happy Easter everyone! I've shared another video for you, explaining our new term and the new way we're going to be working for the foreseeable future.  You can access it by clicking this link.  There are two videos there actually, with the other being of the children singing the Spring Chicken song - that's a fun one!  I wonder if [...]

Prepping for Week 2…

2022-08-18T13:27:04+01:00

Dear parents, Well done for managing a week's worth of learning at home. I bet it's had its challenges, but also some fun bits too - I have four boys of my own at home, so I know only too well how hard it can be! We're about to head into the school's 'Easter Break,' but it's not going to [...]

Home learning ideas…

2020-03-19T10:27:17+00:00

AKA, musing of a headteacher. We’re sending out ideas and packs today… And we’ll be populating web pages… But we thought we could host a place where people could post ideas? I'm sure Pinterest and Facebook will help here too, but it's a thought; a possible helpful page? It's also un-moderated.  Please be thoughtful of the audience! Link here, for [...]

Our School Council… on food.

2020-02-10T20:54:56+00:00

Our School Council meetings take place every month so that I can share my thoughts and make some decisions alongside representatives from every class.  They, in turn, read minutes back to the rest of their class and discuss the items we spoke about. For a while now, some of the year 6 children have made comments about portion sizes being [...]

Inspired Playgrounds…

2022-08-18T13:27:07+01:00

Most children were involved in lots of activity and games on our new playground markings today. Apart from being Martha's Dad, Ben Cox is the lead coach for 'Inspired Playgrounds' and he came in to help us all with an additional free session. Ben led the children in some playground sessions, helped explain how to use the markings to our [...]

How would you wash a fluffy penguin chick?

2020-01-16T16:17:35+00:00

Class 2 were learning how to write instructions. We had lots of fun finding out how to do it and came up with some great ideas… e.g. someone thought it was going to be a ‘catastrophe’ ‘dunking’ him into the warm, bubbly, fresh water but some children came up with a great idea of adding salt and ice. Eventually, we [...]

Izzy the Ice-cube came to visit Class 2 from the South Pole today!

2020-01-16T16:02:57+00:00

We needed to learn quickly how to protect her from the heat. We chose materials to wrap her in and created a fair test. We then made predictions about which one would be the winner. The materials were a woolly blanket, bubble wrap and tin foil. Which one do you think will be the winner…?   Everyone was surprised including [...]

Resilient Heroes – running in hail?!

2019-12-16T14:14:00+00:00

This weekend our cross country team raced in the final meet of the year and the soggy and exposed course around Northam Burrows. Two words sum them up.  Resilient Heroes.  The boys ran in freezing hail and wind barely keeping their shoes on in the mud and through the trenches.  The girls were slightly luckier as the sun peeked out [...]
