Dear ParentsAs we head into the new school week, I thought it a good idea to give you an update on the current level of Covid cases within the school. You’ll be aware that cases are rising across Devon, and this is impacting pupils and staff across all schools in the area.
I’m pleased to report that the Preschool and Kitchen are now back up and running – thank you for all your patience last week! However, two of our teaching team and one Cover TA are now isolating. We are trying to secure supply cover and I will be covering lessons this week. Your children will have a productive and fun week of learning, but you may see classes combined for some activities at different points during the week.
I am working closely with Governors to keep disruption to pupils (and families) to a minimum and we are monitoring the situation daily. Existing Covid mitigation measures will continue to be applied in school (good ventilation, cleaning touch points more regularly for example). However, if this rise in cases among staff continues, we may need to combine more of our teaching to ensure effective cover. Many local secondary schools are putting in plans to rotate year groups out of school for a day a week if staffing levels become too low – this could be an option of last resort but one we are keen to mitigate against if we can.
Please continue to help us by being vigilant for signs of Covid, testing if your child has symptoms (sore throats, headaches and cold/hay fever type symptoms seem to be common early indicators with this current round of Covid) and isolating if you test positive for Covid-19.
Finally, thank you for your patience and support – our main priority is to protect learning and minimise disruption to normal school routines for pupils and families. Children should continue to attend school unless they are unwell.
