We are Confident

To help our children lay foundations for the rest of their lives by helping them develop self-esteem and belief in themselves…

Attendance so far…

Yr6: 96.3% … Yr5: 97.3% … Yr4: 95.1% … Yr3: 97.1%
Yr2: 96.8% … Yr1: 93.2% … Rec: 92.9%

School average 95.5%
We hit 96% several weeks ago which was brilliant but sadly, we’ve declined a decimal point each week.
Attendance is really important (if the children are well of course!) and we can only help with education and social support if children are in school. When attendance is low it becomes much harder for children to stay on top of learning, and for us to support them.

The school and Government’s target is 96.5%

Punctuality is also really important, with children arriving 15 minutes late each day (9am) this equates to 2 weeks of education lost each year.

Our children are growing up in a digital age, and we didn’t. To get familiar with this and know what to expect, we’ve organised an excellent online E-Safety session for Wednesday evening (16th) at 8pm from a team known as “The 2 Johns”. They are absolutely amazing and I follow them on Facebook as they have excellent content that supports us professionals keep our children safe.

Click this link to find out more but joining instructions have been emailed to all parents.

We’d love some Lego kits. If you’ve got almost full sets with instruction booklets that aren’t being used and loved like they used to, we’d love to have them at school where they really would get used and loved lots! Please bring them in if you do. Thanks lots! blog link

We’ve recently advertised for a Mealtime Assistant. Please share this with anyone you know who’d be interested.

Free science kits for children self isolating due to Covid. The kits, called Busy Bag Science, intend to keep youngsters busy and engaged in science whilst they are at home. Kits contain the resources & instructions for 4 experiments plus 3 colouring pages. They can be ordered from the Sciencedipity’s website below and are posted 1st class to your home address:

https://sciencedipity.co.uk/free-busy-bag-science-kits-for-torridge-north-devon/

The project runs for 4 weeks to mid March, and kits can be ordered for free any time during this period while stocks last.”

The National Trust is planting thousands of trees in Woolacombe and they are wanting families to help on the weekend of 19th and 20th Feb if you can. Click the picture… or arrive on Marine Drive between 10am and 2pm.

Our front doors are open between 8.45 and 8.55 with children doing learning activities as soon as they arrive. Sadly, the ones who arrive late at 9.00 am would have missed this, and the ones who are later can even miss the introduction to the next learning task.

Please aim to arrive at 8.45am

Please do look at the school menu before you leave home in the morning. Keri is unable to adjust the menu each day and it’s important that the children know what’s on offer and are happy to make choices in the morning.

Yet again, we’ve had a few Covid cases this week, and so we’ve issued some Warn and Inform letters to the families in a few classes. Please have a read of these and carry out the recommendations, to ensure we maintain our low number of cases.

I know the plans I have for you; plans to bring about the future you hope for.
