Today we had a very special visitor in Class 4 – Tamsin Cooke, author of The Cat Burglar and the Stunt Double series.
The children had a fantastic time learning about how real authors plan and write their stories and Tamsin gave them some useful top tips…
1. Carry a notebook (everywhere!).
2. Have a great main character.
3. The main character needs to develop a problem.
4. Do lots of research.
The session also included some drama, ‘nahalawis’ and the children even decided that the main character of their story would get hit by human arrows, a giant, spike-covered boulder and pouncing jaguars! Thankfully, one of the jaguars soon turned friendly and let our brave character ride it to safety (along with his human sword).
Theo really enjoyed it!
