Georgeham’s Intrepid X Country Runners Kick Off the Gliddon and Squire 2019/20 Season in Style…

Georgeham’s x country runners hit the ground running (literally – there was quite a lot of slipping and sliding taking place) at a very wet, windy and muddy Kingsley School, host of the first event in the 2019/20 X Country League.

Hundreds of children from schools and athletics clubs across North Devon turned up to take part. Conditions were very muddy on the course – which is one of the hillier of the seven courses. The routes switched between football/rugby pitch laps and the woods on the school ground. It definitely wasn’t flat!

Jasper and Jet ran for the first time and finished smiling in the boys year 3/4 event, despite Jasper being wrestled at the end by an eager runner! Kitty, Martha and Elfini worked hard on the longer Year 5/6 course and finished looking very muddy!

It’s a great event for children in KS2 – completely inclusive, busy and guaranteed to get you muddy.

If anyone wants to join the team for the next event just let us know. Run 2 of the season is on 13th October at Shebbear College. Let’s hope it’s slightly less wet and windy!
