Ofsted and SIAMs Inspections

OFSTED-LogoAlong with other maintained and academy schools, Georgeham is subject to regular inspection by Ofsted (the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills).  As a Church of England Voluntary Controlled school we are also subject to inspection by the Diocese of Devon who undertake a Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools which focuses on the effect that the Christian ethos of the school has on the children and young people who attend it.

At our most recent Ofsted Inspection (full inspection in December 2007 with an Interim Review in January 2011) we were graded an Oustanding school.  Inspectors noted that “…the school promotes a welcoming family ethos, fully reflecting  it’s excellent partnerships with parents, the church and the wider community.  These links enable the school to sustain a successful commitment to developing the pupil’s positive attitudes to learning.  Care, support and guidance are of high quality and, consequently, pupil’s personal development and well-being are excellent.”

church_of_england_logo_answer_6_xlargeOur most recent SIAMs inspection, which took place in 2017, rated the school’s provision as Good.  Inspectors commented that “the behaviour and the quality of relationships across all members of the school are strengths and children have a sense that they are part of a caring Christian community. “
