Ofsted and SIAMs Inspections
Along with other maintained and academy schools, Georgeham is subject to regular inspection by Ofsted (the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills). As a Church of England Voluntary Controlled school we are also subject to inspection by the Diocese of Devon who undertake a Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools which focuses on the effect that the Christian ethos of the school has on the children and young people who attend it.
At our most recent Ofsted Inspection (full inspection in December 2007 with an Interim Review in January 2011) we were graded an Oustanding school. Inspectors noted that “…the school promotes a welcoming family ethos, fully reflecting it’s excellent partnerships with parents, the church and the wider community. These links enable the school to sustain a successful commitment to developing the pupil’s positive attitudes to learning. Care, support and guidance are of high quality and, consequently, pupil’s personal development and well-being are excellent.”
Our most recent SIAMs inspection, which took place in 2012, rated the school’s provision as Outstanding. Inspectors commented that “the distinctiveness and effectiveness of Georgeham as a Church of England School are outstanding…during the inspection a parent commented that the school is part of the community and the community is part of the school. The impact of this was clearly evident during the inspection when talking with pupils who speak enthusiastically about the many community activities that they enjoy.”
