Solar Schools’ Competition

We are running an exciting ‘Solar School’ creative arts competition with some great prizes!

What you need to do?

Produce a piece of artwork, sculpture, poetry, prose, collage (pretty much anything but not a video) on the theme of Renewable Energy /Solar Power / Climate Change.

You can do this on your own, with someone else, or as a group. The deadline is Monday 16th March. The winner will get a family surf lesson for up to 4 people kindly donated by Croyde Surf Academy and there will be runners up prizes – including vouchers for Yummies in Braunton.

Get Thinking!

Time is quite short, with entries closing in less than two weeks, so get thinking and get started! The work will need to be done at home rather than in school. You can get help from parents, carers or others, but the work needs be done by you (or your group if you are working with other pupils from Georgeham school).

Judging

The winning entry will be judged by Mr Thomas and community / environmental artist Jo Bushell. If you would like to speak to Jo about the suitability of any ideas that you have or for guidance then please let Mr Thomas know and he will put you in contact with her.

National Competition

The winner will be entered into a competition between the 15 ‘Solar Schools’. The energy company ‘Good Energy’ are offering substantial contributions to the fundraising of the winning schools. So your competition entry might really help Georgeham’s fundraising efforts!

This part of competition will be judged by the number of ‘likes’ of the photo image of the work from each school, as displayed on the Good Energy Facebook page. It is therefore very important that your work will look good when photographed… and this will be part of the judge’s decision at Georgeham.

Have fun and good luck!
