We’ve started a Code Club!

You’ll find lots of software out there that gives children the ability to play about with coding and programming – one of the better ones (apart from Kodu… which is possibly slightly more complicated) is Scratch.

Through Code Club (.org.uk) we found Chris who offered his services to help run a club at school using the resources from the website and the software Scratch.  Chris’ previous job in engineering gave him some skills in coding and he now has some free time to pass these on.

Chris and Teddy work on a collaborative project using the software Scratch.

The new curriculum has also changed recently and the phrase ICT has been dropped for ‘Computing’ instead.  One of the terms that we’ve noticed cropping up for every year group is to ‘debug,’ and there was certainly a lot of debugging  going on in Teddy’s project.

The adventures of Felix and Herbert! ...Teddy wrote the code for Felix to chase Herbert but also for Herbert to run way!

Teddy did a great job (thanks Chris) and we hope to do a video of what Felix and Herbert get up to soon after the next Code Club!
